Term 2

We are looking forward to another term in Year 5 full of new learning opportunities, time to build and develop new and existing friendships and continue to be curious learners willing to challenge ourselves.

This term, our learning will be enriched through a focus on The Arts, providing children with opportunities to explore their creativity, imagination and self-expression. Each curriculum area that we study will have links to the Arts, whether this be through the topics themselves or how the children are able to express their learning.

We will continue with our learning in English and maths, which will be further enhanced with separate lessons studying our text for the term as a reader, spelling and arithmetic. In maths, our learning will focus on an introduction to multiplication and division: looking at factors, multiples, prime numbers, square numbers and cube numbers. We will then begin our learning with fractions, focusing on how to add and subtract fractions. In English we will explore formal writing and continue to develop skills for descriptive writing.

We have been so impressed with the childrens' attitudes towards their learning throughout Term 1 and how they have embraced the challenges presented to them. We look forward to the same from them in Term 2.

PE Days

Our PE days this term are Monday and Wednesday.

Please ensure your child comes to school dressed in their PE kit on these days.

Reading expectations: Read at home every day for 15-20 minutes. Reading records collected and signed on a Thursday.
